Comic book devotees demand authenticity. But when Daena Johnson looked for a wallet that flaunted her comic obsession, she couldn’t find one with enough POW! “I didn’t want just a cheap novelty,” she says. “I wanted a quality, handmade comic book wallet.” Launching ReGeeked in 2011, our heroine took matters into her own hands, turning her stock of about 1,000 comic books into back-pocket signifiers of legit fandom. Crafting each wallet by hand, Johnson places pages from comics such as Superman, Batman, The Walking Dead and Scott Pilgrim under vinyl laminate and shapes and sews them into hardy bifolds and trifolds. Call us biased, but our favorite was from Harvey Pekar’s American Splendor ($30). It was so good we nabbed the last one. Don’t worry, though. Johnson takes custom orders. “The possibilities are pretty endless,” she says. etsy.com/shop/regeeked
