Sure, bath bombs were meant to relax — but that doesn’t mean we can’t unwind with sass. With cheeky names such as Slay With Rosé ($5) and Treat Yo Self ($8) Soothing Sloth Soap Co.’s bath bombs and bubble bars are botanicals with attitude — and a conscience. The Technicolor soaps are vegan-friendly and locally sourced, which makes us twice as chill when the Bowie-indebted fuchsia and electric blue Starman Bath Bomb ($8), a bergamot and grapefruit concoction, explodes into an aurora of pinks, yellow, blues and purples once it hits the water. Sean Hirsch and Zach Wise started the online body store after a failed do-it-yourself Christmas gift got them into soap-making. Now they combat Lake Erie humidity and cast aside poorly performing ingredients to produce hand-sculpted bath bombs with no cornstarch or harsh reactants. As for the quirky company name? “Sloths are just our favorite nontraditional animal,” says Hirsch. “We feel like it really embodies the whole vibe of self-care, taking life slow and easy and taking time to take care of yourself.” soothingsloth.com
