When you’ve lost touch with a certain kind of childhood friend, Loganberry Books may know where to reach them. Try Stump the Bookseller, the Larchmere bookstore’s online treasure hunt that’s been reuniting lost children’s books with former kids since 1996 — and is even recommended by the Library of Congress. “It’s not just remembering something old,” says owner Harriett Logan. “It’s remembering your youth when you looked at the world through different eyes.” Those reaching into the past can submit online queries ($4) to a collection of librarians, teachers and bibliophiles who pore over your remembered details to solve the mystery. If found, the book is added to an online list of thousands of solved queries. With 500 to 600 requests per year, Stump the Bookseller fosters a warm online community steeped in the childhood memories of thousands of readers. While most queries are answered in an about five days, some stumpers investigate much longer, like those that found a rare British edition of Pinocchio after years of hunting. It’s a haven where the search is just as lovely as finally holding the book in your hands. 13015 Larchmere Blvd., Cleveland, 216-795-9800, loganberrybooks.com/stumpthebookseller
