If you don’t know your warp from your weft, help is on its way in the form of the Praxis Truck, a mobile loom engaging residents in textile arts throughout Cleveland. The colorfully wrapped Chevy pickup can be rented for your event ($85 per hour), so attendees can step up to the 200-pound loom, which is mounted on the flatbed and slides out for easy use. With assistance from a Praxis Fiber Workshop staffer, you can shuttle the threads, press down on the enormous wooden pedals and add a few rows to the tapestry that eventually finds its way into a community weaving exhibition. “It’s cool to actually understand how fabric is made,” says Jessica Pinsky, executive director of Praxis Fiber Workshop. “This way, we can bring that knowledge straight to the people so they can see firsthand where their clothes and blankets come from.” 15301 Waterloo Road, Cleveland, 216-644-8661, praxisfiberworkshop.com
