A trip to the Salvage Yard Resale Shoppe is as much about the search as the find. The unassuming brick building in Fairview Park is the nesting doll of vintage resale boutiques, a kind of thrifting co-op of 44 vendors who splay wares across its rooms. Find handmade jewelry and collectible glass, kitchen tables set up in a staged vignette or local honey sold straight from the beekeeper. For thrift mavens, it’s absolute heaven, and they come in droves. Karen Smith founded the business in North Olmsted in 2011 — since then the Salvage Yard has had to expand to a building three times the size of the original location. Customers love the finds, but they come back for the welcoming atmosphere, a flea-market-meets-antique-store vibe that’s fostered a family of local treasure hunters and vendors. “It’s homey,” says Smith. “We have people who come in and are so comfortable they just come in and start chitchatting.” 22935 Lorain Road, Fairview Park, 440-471-0183, facebook.com/thesalvageyardresaleshoppe
