We don’t want to burst Gary Pearlman’s bubble — and not because he can’t handle bad news. The entertainer and former magician creates record-breaking soap bubbles so magnificent that we don’t ever want them to pop. Pearlman, who goes by the fantastic name Dr. URawesome, taught himself bubbleology six years ago and has since broken two Guinness World Records for largest indoor and outdoor free-floating soap bubbles — with two more records pending. From a six-bubble configuration that turns into a square to triangles, octagons and pentagons, he’s a wizard at crafting the glasslike shapes. “All I need is a bottle of bubbles,” says Pearlman. He ups the ante with smoke-filled bubbles that look like volcanoes and a propane gas bubble mixture that produces flaming bubbles. But his best party trick is using a Hula-Hoop and a kiddie pool filled with bubbles to make people-filled creations. “It’s good, clean fun,” he says. “Literally.” drurawesome.com
