If diamonds are a girl’s best friend, Shibani Faehnle might just be our new BFF. After moving to Ohio from India, Faehnle noticed that American women don’t often expand their valuable jewelry collections beyond family heirlooms and wedding rings. “Women in India are brought up appreciating the art of jewelry, almost like a language of love,” she says. In November, Faehnle launched the online shop Bombay Taxi Boutique where she sells necklaces, bracelets, earrings and rings featuring vibrant stones with a traditional-yet-modern flair. Each luxurious offering is handcrafted by an Indian artisan and named after a notable Bollywood actress such as the Esha bracelet ($225), which boasts enameled rows of cubic zircons and gold-plated, sapphire onyx endcaps. Faehnle’s collections are intentionally limited — she carries no more than 25 of any item at a time. “You’re not going to walk into a party and say you’ve put the same piece on,” she says. bombaytaxiboutique.com
