Everyone knows someone — or is that person — who has had their car broken into. But when Deanna Dionne moved to Cleveland four years ago and had it happen to her, she decided to start Cleveland Street Glass. After collecting the shards of glass that lay scattered on the streets, she turns those fragments into necklaces, earrings, rings and more. “To me, it is a symbol of strength to take the product of something so bad and wear it as something beautiful,” she says. Our current favorite is the black bib with gold necklace ($120). Small chunks of glass from a tinted window are encased in polyester resin to form one shape that hangs off a curved gold bar. “It’s a display of fortitude,” she says. “There’s no recourse for car break-ins; you can’t usually find or speak to the person that did it.
