The only thing better than a slab of melted chocolate and a charred marshmallow sandwiched between two graham crackers is the same nostalgic treat but in beer form. “The whole thing about s’mores is that it brings people together,” says Josh Sweet, co-owner of Boss Dog Brewing Co. When Sweet and his brother and head brewer, Jason, opened the East Side brewery in November, the pair tapped into childhood campfire memories by rolling out the Gimme S’more porter ($6 for 16 ounces). Crafted using Boss Dog’s 10-barrel system, this rich black brew crackles with 30 pounds of oven-roasted oats, 20 pounds of semisweet cocoa nibs and 20 pounds of thick marshmallow fluff for a heavy-on-the-stomach but sweet-on-the-tongue concoction served with a toasted marshmallow. “It’s a beer that goes well during the colder days,” says Sweet. “But since s’mores are made while camping, we release it in the summer as well.” 2179 Lee Road, Cleveland Heights, 216-321-2337, bossdogbrewing.com
