Chasing the latest, most exciting hop is the ultimate goal of any brewer, and it’s no different for Brewmaster Nick Law, who leads the beer-making operation at Willoughby Brewing Co. Here are his top three trends and brews:
The Haze Craze: Instead of a highly filtered beer, a hazy juicier brew is becoming more preferred among imbibers. Enter its new OBJ Juice, a moniker that marries two of the Cleveland Browns most exciting football players — Odell Beckham Jr. and the nickname of Jarvis Landry. Made with exclusive Sabro hops, Law says his brewery is the only one in Ohio that has access to them.
Session IPA: Law reengineered the recipe for the brewery’s Hazy Days session-style IPA, lowering the alcohol content to make it a perfect day drinking choice without losing any of the hoppiness of an IPA.
Collaborations: Meet Baenum’s Law, an American Pale ale that is the result of a recent collaboration between Richfield hops farmer Baenum Farm and Law. This new brew was recently tapped at the brewery and is selling well, Law says.
