Arthur (Art) Hall
Calfee, Halter & Griswold LLP
Education: Franklin and Marshall College, bachelor's degrees; Duke University, master's degree in business administration; University of Notre Dame, doctorate in law
First Job: A corporate banking officer at Continental Illinois Bank in Chicago
Toughest Challenge: I led a team that was responsible for quickly transitioning the firm to a remote working environment and developing myriad safety and travel protocols across our offices with only a few days notice.
Important Lesson Learned: Early in my career, I witnessed the incredibly positive impact leaders can have on building a cohesive and motivated team.
What I'd Tell 16-Year-Old Me: The same thing I told my now young adult kids — "Make sure you pursue a career in an area that you find stimulating and for which you have a passion."
Hobby/Passion: Travel with a historic component. Over the last three years, I hiked and completed the Camino de Santiago, an ancient 500-mile pilgrimage trail in Spain.
Fun Fact: My middle name is Cleveland, and I am not originally from Ohio. My great grandparents apparently couldn’t decide their political affiliation, as my grandfather was named after Chester Arthur (R) and Grover Cleveland (D).
