Amanda Cole
Plexus LGBT + Allied Chamber of Commerce
Education: Antioch College and Wright State University
What Guides My Decision-Making: I deeply care about integrity and transparency. Ensuring others are heard informs my decision-making, and when there is failure, we own it and course-correct.
Favorite Quote: Antioch College's motto is from President Horace Mann to the first graduating class: "Be ashamed to die until you have won some victory for humanity.” Kind of heavy when you are 20-something but has been the mission of my life.
Whom I Would Call for Advice: My wife, Erin Cole. She's my greatest confidant and partner and level sets me. Also, my first mentor, Dr. Jennifer Subban. She is why I am on a list like this one.
Most Important Leadership Quality: I remind myself that when I don't understand or I'm frustrated by a situation to stay curious — curiosity about what is happening for myself and the other people involved. From there I seek to create spaces for belonging, shared insights and negotiation.
The Advice I’d Give Someone New: You belong in the room. And don't “should” on yourself.
