Vice President/ General Manager
Education: Bachelor’s degree
First Job: Reporter, KODE-TV in Joplin, Missouri
Proudest Moment: I think it’s right now. Covering the news — from COVID-19 to the social changes going on — all in an environment that is supercharged on all political sides has been unbelievable. I think we’ll look back and think 2020 was one of our finest hours as a news organization.
What Keeps Me Up at Night: Social media. The lines between fact and opinion are blurring. It’s getting harder to verify information and even more difficult to get someone to accept facts that conflict with their own preformed opinions. We’re all facing a deluge of information without the proper tools to filter it.
Important Lesson Learned: Keep perspective. The issues that are in front of you today, in many cases, will be long-forgotten in five years — or maybe five weeks.
Most Important Skill: Communicate. Do what you can to make sure that communication is happening at all levels.
