Toughest Challenge: Taking over the leadership reins from my father, Jack Kahl
Best Advice: One of our advisory board members said, “You have great people and a good business here. Your job is not to micromanage them. Your job is to lead, set the course and see the big picture from 40,000 feet. However, when something is wrong or one of your teammates needs help, get to ground zero. Stay there as long as necessary to right the ship, and then get out of the way again.”
Important Lesson Learned: Humility and a sincere “I’m sorry” or “I was wrong” go a long way.
Fun Fact: In 1981, at the age of 18, my brother, Bill, and I spent a month working in a Taiwanese factory in Taipei, Taiwan, learning how to manufacture package sealing and electrical tapes.
