Q: How does having access to the latest research on girls help students?
A: “I think there are a couple of key ways. I would say indirectly, it means we have an ability as an institution to never rely on tradition or say things like, ‘Well, we’ve always done it that way, so that’s why.’ It means we can always be on the cutting edge, because we have the resources to be on the cutting edge,” says Sarah Wilson, director of Laurel School’s Center for Research on Girls. “It keeps us sharp; it keeps us nimble as a school. The other thing it does is we have dozens of visitors from other educational institutions around the globe come to see what we’re doing here. So, then it puts us in these great conversations with other cutting-edge educators who are doing amazing things at their schools.”Ask the Experts: Access To Research on Girls
