Q: What skills or benefits can College Credit Plus programs offer students?
A: “College Credit Plus students are students who are dually enrolled in both secondary education and post-secondary education,” says Angela Johnson, vice president of access completion and enrollment management at Cuyahoga Community College. "Those students can take college level credits along the pathways to both satisfy their requirements for their high school equivalency, as well as get a jump-start on accumulating college credits. It’s also an opportunity to expose students to the college experience: the rigor, the academics, the expectations. It helps them deal with some fears about college by coming into a college classroom and learning alongside students who are already college students. They’ll be exposed to a level of learning that is certainly beyond what they would do in secondary education, and they will be treated as adults because they are taking adult-level courses.”
