Q: What are the benefits of a Catholic high school?
A: “It has a lot to do with your outlook, instilling a sense of respect in the students, having them appreciate and understand the gifts they’ve received from God and realize that they can use these gifts to help other people,” says Bill Cervenik, president of Villa Angela-St. Joseph High School. “The whole attitude in Catholic education demands students work harder on the basic academics, and they understand that a lot of what we give them is expectations. We educate, nurture and help grow the whole person. We are able to give so much more in decision-making and spirituality and respect of human life as well as public service. The students here feel like they are in a family, and I know that has a lot to do with the Catholic school and the Catholic teaching.”
