Q: What are the benefits of enrolling in a summer camp?
A: “The value of summer is unbelievable because you can provide children options that don’t happen during the school year,” says Mark Nestor, director of auxiliary programs at Hawken School. “It’s my busiest time of the year, but it’s also the most exciting because that’s when I see kids the happiest and engaged in learning, having fun and making new friends. Think about your child’s interests, what type of setting they do best in. If your child is outgoing and really likes a mix of kids, then maybe a multi-aged camp is better. If your child is in a single-gender school, taking the summer to have them in co-ed programs may be something to consider. I would really encourage parents to shop around and take advantage of what’s out there.”
