Homemade lanterns and campy, light-up costumes were ubiquitous among the 4,000 guests who rubbed shoulders with fire dancers, stilt walkers, theater groups, musicians and local artists at University Park last year. Those behind Akron's LIGHT-UP Lantern Festival are hoping to inspire similar participation this month for the community street fair and celebration. "Our big goal is to blur the line between being an audience member and a participant," says Leandra Drumm, founder and creative director. This year's gypsy-themed Caravan of Lights is slated to set University Park aglow Oct. 13 from 6 to 10 p.m.
