Cleveland Ballet
One of the city’s most comprehensive ballet companies takes on a Shakespeare classic. Much celebrated choreographer Ramón Oller comes back to the ballet to present his new version of the fairy-filled comedy, A Midsummer Night’s Dream, about a night of supernatural reveries, romantic faux pas and a motley crew of antics all interpreted by beautiful dance and imagery. Yuri’s Night Out
Ground Control to Major Tom, it looks like the real space party is down on earth this weekend. Haiku Death Match
Are you a slam poet maestro? Well, come prepared to Heights Arts’ marking of National Poetry Month with a haiku-themed literary competition and fundraiser for their programming. Lovers of the 17-syllable Japanese form spar head-to-head, flinging original verse after verse with hopes that they will be crowned the Haiku Death Match Master. Cleveland International Film Festival
The credits of the film festival’s 41st run will roll April 9. But don’t fret: there’s still a lot to see. Fest addicts and latecomers alike can check out local films such as Requiem For a Running Back, a documentary about late Cleveland Browns Lew Carpenter’s daughter journey for answers about Lew’s chronic traumatic encephalopathy, or the world premiere of A More Civil War, a look back at the infamous 2016 Republican National Convention in Cleveland.
