Since the Decision 2.0 sent our LeBron James obsession into overtime, we couldn't help but think of our Chosen One while watching the first three episodes of Starz comedy Survivor's Remorse. Produced by James and business partner Maverick Carter, the story follows Cam Calloway, a rising hoops star. We tip you off to similarities between James and Calloway before the Oct. 4 premiere.
Episode 1, 16:30 minutes
The reminder: When a video of a racist rap from Calloway's past surfaces, Calloway's cousin and manager, Reggie Vaughn, scrambles to get it back. Why: An embarrassing tape of James getting dunked on by a 15-year-old was confiscated by a Nike rep in 2009 but later resurfaced on YouTube.
Episode 2, 7:45 minutes
The reminder: Team owner Jimmy Flaherty, a Dan Gilbert look-alike, calls Vaughn while boarding a private jet after Calloway's mom admitted "whupping" him as a kid during a children's charity event. "I like mea culpas," Flaherty says. Why: Unlike Gilbert's off-the-radar flight to forgiveness, Calloway's mom apologizes before the media.
Episode 3, 3:10 minutes
The reminder: On Calloway's visit to a terminally ill child, Vaughn objects to the white Nike swoosh on Calloway's T-shirt. "None of this swag is cutting you a check," he says. "Sharpie the logo until we close a deal to wear this, especially the shoes." Why: James signed a seven-year, $90 million Nike contract before being drafted.
