Cleveland's own B-movie starlet Brenna Roth has been keeping some A-list company.
The 26-year-old actress will appear in the film version of Cormac McCarthy's Pulitzer Prize-winning novel The Road, starring Viggo Mortensen and Charlize Theron. (The Internet Movie Database lists her role as "road gang leader," and the movie does not yet have a release date.)
There's also buzz that Roth is part of the shrouded-in-secrecy Twilight follow-up, New Moon. In fact, a representative for the actress told us in February that Roth had been cast to play the character Emily.
Then, last month, two Twilight fan Web sites questioned whether Roth's recent interview with an industry blog about her work in the movie was a publicity stunt, since it was widely believed filming had yet to begin. Since then, her representive has officially gone silent on the matter, saying he cannot confirm nor deny the "rumor" she's involved with the film.
But when we talked to Roth in February, the part-time Clevelander told us she had snared a role in the upcoming installment of the popular franchise after persuading the film's executive producer to give her a shot. "I said that I don't have an ego and that I usually smell good," she told us at the time.
Roth is best known for her roles in low-budget horror flicks, including 2007's Horror Convention Massacre, 2008's Frat House Massacre and this year's Killer Biker Chicks.
Her penchant for wild comments may be part of the reason people are having a tough time separating truth from spoof when it comes to Roth and New Moon.
"The director asked me if I read the book," she said when we talked to her. "I told him I was waiting for the movie to come out."
