In the book, two sociopolitically opposed clans come into conflict as characters lounge in historic homes and pedal through the suburb’s canopied streets. Shaker takes the spotlight again in Hulu’s 2020 miniseries adaptation starring Reese Witherspoon and Kerry Washington, which started principal photography in May.
