Cleveland Pops Orchestra
The Cleveland Pops Orchestra gets your toes tapping to music ranging from classical pieces to Gloria Estefan tunes and songs from Star Wars with a free concert in Elyria’s historic Ely Square. An instrument zoo during intermission lets kids meet the musicians and get hands-on with violins, cellos and trumpets. “The kids can get a feel for what it’s like to play an instrument like someone in an orchestra,” says Gordon Petitt, Cleveland Pops Orchestra marketing director. cityofelyria.org

Lakefront Birding Blitz
Bring your binoculars and leave Pikachu and your smartphone at home as a naturalist guides you through the 25-acre Wendy Park on Whiskey Island. The area serves as a pit stop for more than 225 migratory bird species such as warblers and scarlet tanagers. “Pokemon Go is fun, but this is natural and equally compelling,” says Wendy Weirich, Cleveland Metroparks director of outdoor experiences. clevelandmetroparks.com

Monty Python and The Holy Grail
Beat the heat and burn some calories laughing your butt off at Cedar Lee Theatre’s showing of this classic British comedy. Moviegoers can win a raffle for a custom-made Holy Hand Grenade of Antioch, which is used in the film to defeat a killer rabbit. “Whenever you’re showing a film that people could stream online, it’s always fun to make it more of an event,” says David Huffman, the theater’s marketing director. clevelandcinemas.com
