Amanda Briede has a few chords of electric guitar reverberating in her soul. "I love the way it cries and wails," says the Louisville, Ky., artist. Tinged with rock 'n' roll influences, her installation is the lone work in the Sculpture Center's New Moon Ball exhibit, which runs through May 29. Inspired by a Black Keys show, the piece re-creates a concert experience with colorful, flashing stage lights and two large speakers, which play songs edited to a lower bass so you feel the beat of the music. "I could feel the vibrations going through my body, and I just got so energized and recharged," she says. "That is what inspired me to make the piece; so I could have that feeling whenever I wanted to feel it."
