Broadway in Cleveland
You don't have to go to 42nd Street in New York City for Broadway hits. The Palace Theater on Euclid in downtown Cleveland hosts several big musicals as part of the 2001-2002 Broadway Series. Currently playing is "Contact," the 2000 Tony® Award winner for best musical.
Classical, jazz, pop and rock music set the scene for three tales of people in pursuit of love. For more information, click to the show's Web site, www.contactthemusical.com.
Tickets for the show range from $26.50 to $48.50. Start times are 7:30 p.m. for the run (through Nov. 18), and matinees on Nov. 10, 11, 17 and 18 begin at 1:30 p.m.
Mysterious children's theater
The Ohio Theater hosts "The Mystery of King Tut," a musical that spans thousands of years in its storytelling. Howard Carter, the archeologist who unearthed Tut's tomb, and the boy king himself are cast in similar roles, struggling with politics and betrayal.
Performances are at 2 p.m. on Nov. 10 and 3 p.m. on Nov. 11. Tickets cost $12.
Raucous wedding
Even if you've already seen "Tony 'n' Tina's Wedding," you should see it again. The wacky audience-participation show that continues its record run in Cleveland plays the Hanna Theater through January 13, 2002.
Tickets cost $43 or $52, and shows are at 5 and 8:30 p.m. on Nov. 10, and 1 and 5 p.m. on Nov. 11.
