Acclaimed indie gallery and venue Survival Kit Gallery will soon close.
The space will host a reception to close its latest show featuring weaver Meagan Smith and painter Christopher L. Richards on April 21 from 5 to 9 p.m. Following that, the gallery's founders will exit.

Survival Kit, located on the third floor of 78th Street Studios, has functioned as more than just an art gallery, hosting live music and small markets in its 10+ years.
Musician and producer Brian Straw, who founded Survival Kit in 2010 with Alex Tapié, Dan Price and Suzanne Price, posted a farewell on Facebook.
"It’s time for me to say goodbye to Survival Kit. Nothing lasts forever. My world is changing like everything else. I’m changing," Straw wrote in a Facebook status. "My needs are shifting. My priorities are coming into focus. I’m streamlining. I hope I’m making the right decisions. The transition work has my head in a state of spin. I’m inspired though. With eyes wide open for what comes next."
