If all you know about Aquaman is that he talks with the fishes, then it’s time for a reboot. The Justice League superhero lands his own movie this year and its star, Jason Momoa, makes an appearance at Wizard World Comic Con at the Huntington Convention Center March 2-4. To whet your appetite, Adam Barsa of North Coast Nostalgia in Parma offers three reasons why Aquaman rules.
Sea worthy: Along with Batman, Superman and Wonder Woman, Aquaman is one of seven founding members of the Justice League. “He’s the King of the Seven Seas,” says Barsa. “With how much of the earth is covered by water, he has a lot more responsibility than any of the other members.”
Water works: Living underwater means Aquaman requires super abilities just to survive, such as above-average strength to withstand the pressures at extreme depths and telepathic powers to communicate with sea creatures. “He really was a badass,” he says.
Half shell: Half human and half Atlantean, Aquaman isn’t accepted on land or in the sea. “He is an outsider no matter where he is,” says Barsa. “He always has to prove himself.”
