University Circle: If you thought chocolate was best served for dessert, the Natural History Museum would like to show you otherwise at its Feb. 7 dinner all about the sweet bean. The Natural History of Chocolate dinner starts with a reception and presentation from local dessert expert Bev Shaffer, the director of the Mustard Seed Market Cafe & Cooking School and author of sweet titles including Brownies to Die For! and Cookies to Die For!
Guests will then be treated to a seven-course dinner with a touch of chocolate in each course at 8 p.m., prepared by Fire Food & Drink chef Douglas Katz, and wine pairings from Mary Lapham.
The second in a four-part series held annually by the museum, the history of chocolate is the only recurring food tribute over the last four years.
Other upcoming food events include the history of spices on April 18 with guest chef Karen Small from the Flying Fig and the history of peppers on June 20 with guest chef Sergio Abramof of Sergio’s.
