There’s a lot to take in when sifting through Crafted Meadery’s stock. What started as a passion project out of Kent Waldeck’s home in 2012 has now grown to include more than 50 meads. While the Mogadore meadery rolls out year-round varietals bold enough to stand on their own, it’s the limited session meads, such as the Warhammer ($9.99), that continue to pique our interest.
Released in February, this cyser mead, a style made with apple cider and raw wildflower honey, is fermented with blueberries, liquid oak tannins and a hint of vanilla for 30 days. The result is a great introductory mead that’s as dark and complex as it is smooth and sweet.
“This particular mead is going to be tart, refreshing, light on the palate,” says Waldeck. “It’s going to be something that you want to keep coming back to.” 1189 state Route 43, Mogadore, 330-628-4444, craftedmead.com
