It’s not exactly like 1939, but time passes slowly here. Just look at the mirrored wood bar and the fans twirling just below the tin ceiling. Read the menu: Monday is spaghetti and meatballs night, the seafood is fried, and Sanka is still on the beverage list. Academy Tavern does not specialize. It would not use the word “cuisine.” It’s open daily for breakfast, lunch and dinner: steaks, omelettes and $5.75 burgers.
