Black Box Fix has filled the hole in our hearts left by last year's closure of Sweetie Fry in Cleveland Heights' Cedar Lee district. The takeout shop with about a dozen dine-in seats opened in March in the french fries-meets-ice cream spot's former space. Inspired by deli, Creole and all-American favorites, each overloaded sandwich bursts with flavor and is served in a black to-go box with garlic Parmesan french fries. The sloppily good OMG Philly ($13) adds shrimp to grilled chicken, onions, mushrooms, peppers and Swiss cheese, kicking to the curb the idea that cheese and seafood can't mix. To cure our cookout desires, the Mr. Martin ($9) features crispy fried chicken dipped in a tangy house-made agave barbecue sauce and topped with sweet onion vinaigrette slaw. Chef and co-owner Eric Rogers also mashes Asia and Louisiana into the Creole soul rolls ($3), deep-fried egg rolls loaded with smoked turkey, andouille sausage, collard greens and jambalaya rice. They're so popular — selling out most days — that we're sure to order a few for the road.
