Specializing in Cantonese and Szechwan cuisines, Li Wah is among the best Chinese restaurants in Cleveland. And while it’s an unforgettable experience to dine at the brightAsiaTown restaurant where you can easily nab a small two-seater table, co-owner Randy Hom has created a similar experience for those who want to enjoy food at home.
Sure, you can order full-sized entrees such as beef with broccoli, but Li Wah’s signature dim sum — the Cantonese answer to brunch — is also available for carryout. “Something that we’ve been trying to think about is letting customers steam things from home,”says Hom.
“If you can get some bamboo containers, they will come out the same way they would come out at the restaurant.” Think baskets of dumplings, sweet buns and meat dishes like black pepper beef short ribs, reheated with ease alongside a pot of black tea.
Try This: With a tender filling of chives and shrimp wrapped in translucent pastry, hargow ($4.50), or crystal shrimp dumplings, are a dim sum staple.
