Parlez vous crepe? If you're not yet fluent in the thin French pancake filled with sweet or savory goodness, here's the skinny on two weekend crepe stations.
TownHall
TownHall's crepe station is like a bridge, the thing that connects its regular brunch menu and the feel of a weekend buffet. It's the link between the Ohio City restaurant's vegan- and vegetarian-friendly weekdays and its tighter Saturday and Sunday offerings. "It's a great breakfast or lunch item," says general manager Ryan Hartzell. "It can be sweet or savory or it can be both." A staple since TownHall opened in 2013, the build-your-own crepes ($7) continues to evolve. It now offers vegan crepes and almost 30 fillings, including seitan and vegan cheese. Try This: Add an egg to your favorite combination for a $1 more.
Saturday and Sunday, 9 a.m.-2 p.m., 1909 W. 25th St., Cleveland, 216-344-9400, townhallohiocity.com
Platform Beer Co.
Ohio City deserves Platform Beer Co.'s brunch. In a neighborhood that takes pride in its artisanal vibe, Platform offers the perfect do-it-yourself start to a Saturday with help from Pour Cleveland and Brewnuts. Choose from customizable omelets and crepes ($7.99) made fresh by the Grocery owner Rachel Kinsgbury. "It really makes it a destination," says Kingsbury. Plus, the nearly 25 fixin's are local or organic, including sausage from Saucisson and Amish cheeses from the West Side Market. Try This: Go healthy with the buckwheat crepe with Nutella and blackberry jam.
