Filet Mignon Shish Kebabs, $17 | Anatolia Cafe
The kebab is part of everyday cuisine in the Middle East. It's as ubiquitous as pizza in the U.S, and like our favorite pie, there are variations. "Kebabs typically have lamb," says owner Yashar Yildirim. "But for customers who are anxious about trying lamb, we recommend the filet mignon." The meat marinades overnight in olive oil, salt, pepper, lemon juice, yogurt, crushed red pepper and pepper paste. Six cubes of tender beef are charbroiled, skewered and served over white rice. "The filet mignon kebabs are one of our top sellers," Yildirim says.
