The Black Pig
Former location: 1865 W. 25th St., Cleveland New location: 2801 Bridge Ave., Cleveland
Why move: When chef and owner Michael Nowak heard about Light Bistro closing in his neighborhood last July, he moved his spot for contemporary American cuisine to the location for its extra space. What's new: The December reopening of the Black Pig now allows Nowak to seat more than 100 guests on the first floor. Plus there's a 50-person private dining area on the second floor. "What I love about this place is that you can really feel the history of it when you are dining here," he says.
Oak and Embers Tavern
Former location: 8491 Mayfield Road, Chesterland New location: 8003 Mayfield Road, Chesterland
Why move: After opening in the former Old Murphy Tavern space in March, Oak and Embers Tavern suffered a setback due to a June kitchen fire. So the barbecue restaurant had to find a new spot. What's new: The fresh location, which opened in October, seats 170 people and features a brick wall with pallet wood, a 12-tap draft system, Mason jar light fixtures and a stage for local bands. "This new spot is perfect for us," says co-owner Gretchen Garofoli. "It's a newer building, a more open space."
