No matter what you’re whipping up,
Kevin Scheuring (left) has something you need and plenty you never knew you wanted. The Coit Road Farmers Market vendor known as theSpice Hound fills his table with Vietnamese cinnamon, Balinese long peppers and about a dozen of his own blends, including Caribbean-style curry — all guaranteed to turn local produce into exotic fare. “I became seriously interested in cooking about 15 years ago,” says Scheuring, who blogs at
spicehound.blogspot.com. “But back then, good spices were hard to find in Cleveland, so I searched out suppliers from around the country and started buying in bulk.” Now he devotes most of his time as a board member and market manager for Coit Road. “I’m a full-time volunteer and a part-time spice seller,” he says.
