Jeni Britton Bauer has dedicated her life to revolutionizing the making of ice cream. Now the owner of Jeni's Splendid Ice Creams wants to do the same in your kitchen. Her book Jeni's Splendid Ice Creams At Home (Artisan, $23.95) hits stores this month and proves it doesn't take fancy machinery to replicate her creamy flavors. "I want to empower people to create an ice cream shop with their kids on the weekends," says Britton Bauer, who opened her first Cleveland-area shop in Chagrin Falls in April. The book builds on one recipe to create 150 flavors such as salty caramel, wildberry lavender and — only available in the book — toasted rice with coconut milk. Plus, she shares ideas for macaroons, push pops and meringues.
