There's Something Nostalgic about hot dogs. Family cookouts and long afternoon games at the ballpark were made for links, ketchup, mustard and a bun. So Weenie a Go Go's mixture of delicious dogs, house-made toppings and vintage decor — including dinette sets that seem to span decades, tin Coca-Cola signs and a life-sized poster of former Cleveland Browns quarterback Bernie Kosar — hits us in all the retro spots. The menu includes a special dog of the day along with nine constant quarter-pound combinations such as the belly-busting loaded baked potato dog ($5) with mashed potatoes, cheddar cheese and bacon, and the tangy, garden-on-a-bun Chicago dog ($5), a faithful send-up to the Windy City classic jam-packed with neon relish, diced onion, sport peppers, yellow mustard, a tomato slice and dill pickle spear. Try your luck with the savory Reuben dog ($5) topped with corned beef, Cleveland Kraut sauerkraut, Thousand Island dressing and Swiss cheese on a rye bun. Originally created just for St. Patrick's Day, the dog is now a permanent fixture at Weenie a Go Go — just like we are.
