This October would have been the 10-year mark for In Forno Pizza (35840 Chester Rd., 216-394-9784) in Avon. Owners George and Elizabeth Goodman opened the charming Neapolitan pizzeria back in 2015 and have been dominating the west-side craft pizza game ever since. But come late July, the Goodmans will hand over the reins to new operators.
“I’ve been planning this for a while,” Goodman says. “It’s sad to let go but some good things are coming.”
The Goodmans launched their pizza endeavor from the back of a food truck fitted with a wood-burning oven. After five years of bringing pizza to the people, they decided to stay put and make the people come to them. And come they did thanks to stellar pizza and the owners’ heartwarming hospitality.
While the Goodmans will be departing in July, new owners will be taking over. The plan is for a semi-seamless transition that will result in a solid new pizzeria on the other end.
The restaurant will close for its annual two-week break on July 4 and reopen with new ownership on July 22. The Goodmans would love for you to stop in and say goodbye before then.
“I wanted to let our friends and clients know what’s happening because I really want to thank all who supported us for 10 years,” George says. “I want to pamper them and hug and kiss them for a week while I’m still here.”
