When Lager Heads started brewing in 2010, the beer was a supporting star crafted to complement the hickory-smoked barbecue at its smokehouse restaurant. But in 2015, Lager Heads put its brews under the spotlight by adding a separate brewery and tasting room in downtown Medina. As Medina County’s first craft brewer, it offers something for both the traditionalist and the adventurer — from pleasant, piney IPAs to the heady caramel malt of the Irish red ale Bed Head Red ($5.50 for 16 ounces). Try them all while playing table shuffleboard next to one of the microbrewery’s 15 stainless steel brewing tanks. If you’re hungry, head over to the nearby restaurant and order the Smoke House Sampler ($25) that complements almost any brew with three rib bones, smoked brisket, pulled pork and two giant wings. Our Pick: Get wild with the Plum Crazy Belgian Dubbel ($6.25 for 20 ounces), a smooth, dark red ale fermented entirely with plums and notes of figs and banana. 325 W. Smith Road, Medina, 330-721-2337, lagerheads.us
