They’re not commonly found this side of the Mason-Dixon Line, so seeing fried green tomatoes ($5) on Sweet Melissa’s menu made the part of our stomach that longs for something tart, breaded and fried growl with glee. The appetizer is a three-layered delight: juicy and sour from the five green tomato slices, sweet from the apple cranberry relish and cinnamon, and spicy from the tangy horseradish dressing and scallions.
