This fast-casual outlet is a gateway to Indian cuisine. Luckily the staff is readily prepared to break down every bit of the menu, which includes more than a dozen entrees, 11 small plates and eight sides. “We’re all used to American and Chinese food for takeout,” says Lauren Eppele, business coordinator for Chapati. “It’s nice to have something that’s different.”
The restaurant is also a go-to for vegans and gluten-free diners, with dishes such as chana masala, or chickpeas in a spicy house sauce. Opening in 2016, Chapati used to be a build-your-own place akin to an Indian version of Chipotle. But earlier this year, they revamped the menu to also include Indian street food, adding mixed rice dishes called biryanis and small plates such as lamb or veggie samosas.
“You’re not just getting a bowl,” says Eppele. “You can try several mains, small plates or sides that have more of the Indian feel to them without necessarily breaking the bank.”
