John Hall, a kitchen planning and design professional in Beachwood, has been bringing his expertise to the classroom for the past 23 years. People who can’t afford to hire him can still benefit from his know-how in a series of three two-hour classes. He covers the fundamentals of remodeling, explaining everything from style and construction to smart shopping.

Hall shared a few tips with us for a quick and easy kitchen makeover:
You don’t need to replace cabinets or countertops.
The two key components are lighting and a terrific backsplash.
Use halogen bulbs for under-cabinet lighting.
Change out knobs and faucets to upgrade style.
Add a new backsplash. They come in beautiful materials such as stone, glass and stamped stainless steel.
