Fear's Confections, a Lakewood chocolate shop known for its geeky Star Wars and Dr. Who-themed creations, has announced that it will permanently close next month. Its last day of business will be Valentine's Day.
Shop owner Cassandra Fear announced the news on Facebook on Friday, explaining that the decision was made so she could spend more time with family.
"I’ve essentially missed my kids growing up while I tried to make this little business of mine work and now will be an opportunity to make that up to them," the post states. "This new direction will enable me to see my kids, family and friends, enjoy the holidays, get an actual paycheck, and get back to singing more often."
"The past 13 years have been one hell of a ride and we are so glad we were able to take you along with us," the shop shared on Facebook. "From our home to E185th to Lakewood. From bomb threats to many awards to Alton Brown (twice). The good and the bad. The better and the ugly. Through thick and thin, you were all there for and with us."
The shop noted that its building is currently for sale, but that this event didn't contribute to its decision to close.
