Sometimes two heads are better than one. Daniel Ang of Dang Good Foods and Cassandra Fear of Fear’s Confections have joined forces to create a dynamic combination of sweet and savory options. By offering freshly made poke bowls and 12 ice cream flavors, Lakewood AF allows the co-owners to expand their passions and skill sets from their respective businesses, while bringing something fresh to Madison Avenue.
“It’s a cool way to use our separate skills that we’re not utilizing in our two spaces, putting it somewhere else and giving Lakewood something that they don’t have,” Fear says.
Fear takes care of the sweets, including chocolate, hot fudge and caramel drizzles for ice cream such as a rich peanut butter Oreo or fan-favorite frosted malt, sourced from Weber’s Premium Custard & Ice Cream.
Ang focuses on the poke. By using fresh, organic ingredients in each made-to-order bowl, he crafts dishes packed with melt-in-your-mouth flavors, such as the signature Poke AF ($11) made with jasmine rice, salmon, diced mango, carrots, cucumber and cilantro finished with a teriyaki sauce.
“We curate the taste and we curate the flavors so that we can present what we think is good,” says Ang.
As Lakewood AF grows, Ang and Fear will expand the menu and feature local artists in-house as a way to give back to the community.
“We’re trying to create more and more value for Madison Avenue,” Ang says. “We’re coming together to create more vibrancy in the city we really love.” 15210 Madison Ave., Lakewood, 440-851-0515, instagram.com/lakewoodaf
