When you can’t decide between wings, a burger or pizza, why not order ‘em all? At Lakewood’s Sauced Taproom & Kitchen, a build-your-own menu structure gives diners the freedom to create the comfort-food meal of their dreams. Think of it as American-style tapas: small plates of popular dishes, with lots of options when it comes to sauces, toppings and other accoutrements. Pizza comes by the half-sheet or by the slice, though each slice is more like its own tiny pizza — a square of crispy, house-made dough topped however you like it. Particularly delicious is the loaded baked potato pizza ($3 per slice, $20 half-sheet), heaped with bacon, green onions, two cheeses, diced French fries and a hearty drizzle of ranch dressing. The beef, pork and veal meatballs ($6) — with spicy Dr. Pepper barbecue sauce — make for a delightful intersection of savory and sweet, and vegetarians can get in on the fun too, with plant-based Impossible meatballs ($8). Speaking of meatballs, don’t forget about the Little Italy Salad ($7 small, $9 large). It’s akin to a chopped caprese salad, made with fresh basil, mozzarella and balsamic — but it’s also topped with thick-cut pastrami and a meatball. Don’t overlook the complementary “Your Way” menu. Choose your base (pizza, sliders or a salad), then your protein, cheese and sauce. Once you’ve made your decision, Sauced has lots and lots of beers on tap to help you wash it all down.
