Sure, you can easily win one's heart with a bottle of wine and some chocolates. But step up your Valentine's Day game with a gift that expertly pairs our two guilty pleasures into one tasty treat. Bliss in a Bottle, located inside Beachwood Place, dips bottles of wine (and beer too) that's wrapped in protective sleeves in all kinds of chocolates and toppings. "The chocolate and wine are paired for a flavor explosion," says owner Cheryl Sher. Here are three couplings that have us smitten.
If you love red: Try Nickel and Nickel cabernet sauvignon dipped in dark chocolate with espresso and pure raspberry essence powder ($106.99).
Why it works: "It's acidic enough that the dark chocolate is perfect with it," says Sher. "It just becomes very mellow with the espresso and the fruit."
If you love white: Try Cupcake moscato d'Asti dipped in white chocolate, sprinkles and crushed Madagascar bourbon vanilla bean powder ($31.95).
Why it works: "[The moscato] is kind of a creamy texture, and the sprinkles are fun like the Cupcake," she says. "But then we do a Madagascar bourbon vanilla bean to give the idea of a vanilla cupcake."
If you love beer: Try Wells Banana Bread Beer dipped in milk chocolate with a peanut butter drizzle ($23.99).
Why it works: "It tastes like banana bread — exactly," Sher says. "We decided on the dip by just tasting. We taste everything with milk, dark and white. Sometimes we can pretty much tell right off the bat."
