The Harmon Middle School sixth-grader lives in Aurora with his father and two older brothers. His father, who owns a spa, recently bought Bo a book called Gumball Kid about a 5-year-old entrepreneur who launched a small empire of gumball machines. Now Bo wants to do the same with machines at his father's four salons.
My mom passed away when I was 6 years old. All my friends, they always encourage me and say nice things. Say the date came up that she'd passed away, they'd always be by my side and stuff. They're really nice.
I miss her, obviously. But she wouldn't want us to be sad. I kind of take that as motivation. I do things better and stronger with her, because I always think she's by my side. My dad, it's very difficult for him being a single parent, taking care of us. But he's a great father and he's raised really good kids.
I really love sports and I love statistics. So I always wanted to become a general manager. It would be hard, because the odds of me, or anybody, going to the NFL or MLB are slim.
I want to be affecting the world in a good way. I'm not saying that just to sound like a good kid. I know I can do a lot of things that I want to. I might not even become a general manager. I might become something. A lot of things happen. You become interested in more stuff.
We just saw this movie, Selma. It was a great movie. It was just like, What if I did something like that, like Martin Luther King? Rosa Parks wasn't as big, but she did something amazing. Just like Jackie Robinson. I love just imagining myself, all the crowd cheering. Not fame but encouragement. I just want to change the world. I just want to be a big part of life and helping people.
