Tyrone attends Metro Catholic School on Cleveland's West Side, where he is in sixth grade. He lives with his mother between Hough and University Circle. The youngest of four kids, he has two brothers ages 29 and 21 and a sister, 25. He plays basketball for his school's team, where he made the winning shot in a recent game.
My worst day was when I found out my mom has kidney failure. It was right after Halloween. She's going through the process, and my uncle is trying to give her a kidney.
I try to help pay bills at home, because I like to work with my dad every week. On Saturday, I make $40 or $20, and I give it to my mom and be like, Here you go, put this on whatever you need at the grocery store. My father is a carpenter, and he works carpentry and fixes holes and stuff like that.
I want my own company for people who have diseases. I want to find cures for cancer and diabetes, help people get kidneys such as my mom. I just want to, one day if I make a lot of money, come back here and build a better place.
It's better to put my head in a book than go out there and do something stupid, steal, do anything like that and be in trouble. When my face is in a book, I can learn different words, learn to read. But when you're out there stealing, you might steal something and then the store clerk might kill you. I don't want to be dead and I don't like stealing and I don't like people who steal.
